Stereotypes in the Media   

For this unit, students were asked to critically engage with how media texts* reinforce and/or reject societal stereotypes. Students' final assignment required that they write about three different media texts of their choosing and how they specifically reinforce and/or reject one or more stereotypes. *For the purposes of this unit, media texts were defined as any visual or audio work created with the intention of disseminating information and /or making a profit,  (i.e. movies, television shows, advertisements, songs, music videos, movie trailers, social media memes, news reports, websites, book covers, etc.)
